Improve your RE lessons with the Masterfaiths Series Each title in the Masterfaiths Series provides complete coverage of one of the world's major religions suitable for any locally agreed syllabus. Masterfaiths is designed for children to use by themselves or for whole class use. Your pupils will learn quickly and effectively about RE by listening, seeing, reading, interacting and exploring. You will be able to speed up your lesson preparation, integrate ICT into RE, and use Masterfaiths in the literacy hour. Each title allows pupils to use different styles of learning. There are talking books based upon religious stories, 'Let's Explore' sections that integrate ICT into RE, activities, quizzes and tours. Each module is designed to teach the important concepts behind each religion. Benefits and Features of the Masterfaiths SeriesMasterfaiths is directly relevant to your RE teaching needs, because it is specifically designed in line with Curriculum 2000, the QCA schemes of work for RE, and to fit easily into any locally agreed syllabus.
The compulsory requirement to include ICT in the RE curriculum is fulfilled by this software.
Masterfaiths is a series of excellent talking books that can be used in the literacy hour. Friends and Promises has letter games for teaching phonics to early key stage 1 pupils, and the Christmas Story is written in poetry for key stage 2.
Research shows that people remember on average 10% of what they hear, 35% of what they see, and 65% of what they both see and hear. The written and spoken story is illustrated with beautiful 3D graphics and animations that help children to remember .
Children can explore within the programme by clicking on "hot spots" to find useful information, learn key concepts, or interact with talking characters.
Fun to do quizzes and activities re-enforce the stories, and help children to understand them.
The software is versatile and adaptable for different levels and abilities. For example, in Friends and Promises the sound can be turned off for year 2 and 3 children who are expected to read the stories, whereas reception and year 1 children can listen to them. Reception and year 1 pupils can use the letter games to learn phonics, whereas later KS 1 children can try the word searches to help their spelling. In Celebrations , a KS 2 programme, the sound can also be turned off, and the quizzes adapt according to the ability of the user.
Little or no supervision is required for children to use the software, even at reception level. Children can learn the basic stories, and concepts from the computer leaving you more time for individual attention and class activities.
The Teacher's Notes, supplied with each programme, provide you with background information at your fingertips to help you with lesson preparation . The learning objectives, symbols and themes from each story, references to holy writings (e.g. biblical references), and suggested questions for class discussion are included in these notes.
You can use Masterfaiths to learn quickly unfamiliar stories or remind yourself of familiar ones.
A team of experts in education, religion, and computer science produces Masterfaiths so that you can be sure that your pupils are using top quality educational software.
